Let’s face it, as baby boomers retirement is no longer something we will think about ’someday’. Someday is today. But many retirement plans and investments took a major hit in our recent recession. Boomers face some uncertainty as to whether what remains is going to be sufficient to retire on. Add to that, the fact that many of us are simply aren’t ready to dive into retirement head first and what do you end up with?
Boomer-preneurs.
Many of us are starting our own businesses for a variety of reasons. Perhaps it’s to supplement our retirement funds or to follow a dream. For others it may be a way to give back to their community, turn a hobby into extra cash or deal with being laid off. Whatever the reason, we’ve become the largest growing segment to become entrepreneurs.
And it only makes sense. We have years of experience and expertise to bring to the table.
So what about you? Are you a boomer-preneur? Do you want to be? Did you/are you starting a business to supplement your retirement income or to follow a dream of being your own boss?
Whatever the reason, we want to hear about it. Leave a comment on this post or share your story in Your Boomer Voices.
